Welcome to the Glyph and Grok - A weekly blog-letter exploring design, execution, and culture relating to anything played on a tabletop.
Introduction
Greetings and welcome fellow nerds. This week we’re taking a look around to see where we’re at and organize some things. I’ve been really enjoying finding a groove and learning new things as I post here weekly now for some time. This entry marks 72 published articles here and it’s been excellent exercise in honing a voice and I am so very thankful to have you all following along as work to provide you with interesting content from multiple facets of the tabletop gaming space!
For those who are new here, this post is intended to provide bearing as to what we’ve done so far. For those that already know what to expect here, this is a reminder to look around and make sure you’ve seen everything. In all cases, please drop a comment! Let me know what you want to see more of here. Your voice helps me make our time together work for you.
Thank you for joining me on this journey, dear reader!
The Thing
The webpage feature here is quite useful and has a “blog” feel to it, but it seems easy to miss. We’re going to simply break down the categories I’ve sorted the published entries here at the Glyph and Grok, sorted from what seems to be the most popular on down.
Downloadable-Content - Things to take with you on your journey
Reviews - Reviews of tabletop games and books
Game Master - Insights from running games
Game Design - Design philosophy, retrospectives, and idea exploration
Solo Gameplay - TTRPG solo gameplay
Giathos Lore - A tabletop setting passion project
If you have not tried it yet, visit the publication site to review all posts. If you see something a friend might enjoy, send them a link!
Everything that has been the Glyph and Grok has fit into one of the above six categories. I tend to swing back and forth between working on specific adventures, working on material for games I plan to run, reading and research, and finding excuses to practice all the artistic tendon tissue that keeps this stuff going.
Conclusion
This week is a short one that I plan to earmark for simple reference. Also, it is Gencon week! We will be making pilgrimage to the halls of the Indianapolis convention center and I hope to see you there!
P.S. - I’m supposed to be doing a thing, but instead I’m designing another big-table one-shot to run for my friends at the con. No regrets to report.
Thank you, dear reader!
Please like, share, and comment your thoughts.
Till next time!
